Getting started

Three steps, then capture lives one keystroke away.

    Connect Notion

    Open Inki and choose Connect Notion. You'll be sent to Notion's official OAuth screen, where you authorize Inki and pick exactly which workspaces and pages it can see. You can change that scope any time, in Inki or in Notion's integration settings.

    Pick your databases

    Star the databases you capture into most, Tasks, Notes, a reading list, whatever you live in. Inki reads each one's schema automatically, so there's no field mapping to set up. New property in Notion? It shows up in Inki the next time you capture.

    Capture from anywhere

    On Mac, press ⌘⇧., the popover opens with the title field focused. On iPhone, open the app or tap a home-screen widget. Type, hit ⏎, and it's in Notion with its properties set.

Inki is keyboard-first. These are the moves worth committing to muscle memory.

The capture shortcut is customizable in Settings if ⌘⇧. clashes with something else.

Worth knowing

  • Plan My Day walks you through today's items one at a time, keep, reschedule, or mark done, so a long list becomes a short plan.
  • Widgets (iOS) come in Small, Medium, and Large. Long-press the home screen to add one, then pick which database it targets and deep-links into.
  • Reminders are optional local notifications, a daily briefing, due-date nudges, and an overdue prompt. Turn them on in Settings.
  • Themeable, six accent colors plus warm light and dark modes live under Settings → Appearance.

Troubleshooting

The handful of things that occasionally go sideways, and how to set them right.

I don't see one of my databases
A database only appears in Inki once it's shared with the integration. In Notion, open the database, click the ••• menu → Connections → add Inki. Back in Inki, pull to refresh (iOS) or reopen the database switcher (Mac) and it'll show up.
A relation field is missing from my form
Relation fields need both databases connected to Inki, not just the one you're capturing into. When the linked database isn't shared, Notion leaves the relation out of the schema it sends Inki, so the field doesn't turn up empty, it doesn't turn up at all. In Notion, open the database the relation points to, click the ••• menu → Connections → add Inki, then reopen Inki and the field will be there with the rest of your properties. Worth knowing either way: relation fields sort to the bottom of the property list, so scroll down if you don't spot one right away.
Inki says I need to reconnect
Notion access tokens can expire or be revoked. Go to Settings → Notion → Reconnect and run through the OAuth flow again. Your starred databases and preferences stay put, only the token is refreshed.
Reminders aren't firing
Reminders need notification permission. On iPhone: Settings → Inki → Notifications → Allow Notifications. On Mac: System Settings → Notifications → Inki. Then confirm reminders are enabled in Inki's own Settings. A Focus mode or Do Not Disturb can also hold them back.
A capture didn't show up in Notion
If you were offline, the capture is safely queued and will sync automatically the next time you connect, Inki retries on its own. You can see anything still pending in the sync queue. If an item is stuck, check that the target database still exists and is shared with Inki, then trigger a manual sync.
The hotkey doesn't open the popover
Another app may have claimed ⌘⇧.. Open Settings → Shortcut and assign a new combination, or check for conflicts in macOS keyboard settings. Make sure Inki is running, it lives in the menu bar, not the Dock.

Is Inki made by Notion?
No. Inki is an independent app built for Notion users. It uses Notion's official API and OAuth, and it's listed in Notion's integration directory. It's not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Notion Labs, Inc.
Where does my data go?
Directly from your device to Notion. There's no Inki server in between, and Inki doesn't store your notes. Your Notion token is kept in your device's Keychain. Read the full privacy policy.
What can I capture into?
Any Notion database you share with the integration. Inki builds the right fields from that database's properties automatically, Status, Priority, Due, Tags, relations, checkboxes, numbers, and text.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Captures queue locally and sync automatically when you reconnect, with automatic retry. You never lose a thought to a dropped connection.
Which platforms are supported?
macOS (a menu-bar app) and iPhone (an app plus Small, Medium, and Large home-screen widgets). Inki requires macOS 15.2 or later, or iOS 17.0 or later.
Is there a free trial?
